Reminisce

Was flipping through some of my old stuff, some photos some scribblings. Everything that one does everyday defines the past of our future. As I look back and laugh at the many chapters in this journey that we call life, I stand in awe of the many many inspirational mentors that have crossed my path  as well as the many numerous setbacks that have humbled me. One can achieve anything if he sets his mind to it, even for a nerd like myself to become a pretty boy in half a year is an amazing feat.  And I look forward to one more amazing race which I shall embark on a month of backpacking to vietnam/china/korea!/japan(hopefully). Sidenote: I could be a korean idol haha seriously , perhaps because I’ve been watching alot of k-drama this days. I think the latest craze over korean culture has just about to begin in singapore.

Are we singaporeans seriously lacking in identity. I remember a chinese folk story of a man who forgot how to walk after trying to imitate the walking gaits of others.

Sarcastic remark or indirect compliement?

Overheard on the grapevine today, interesting story from a girl about some other girl that had crush on guys with proportionate greek bodies.
and then she goes around commenting un-gym like guys in the group . If you ever fall for a guy in your social circle with a nice body, it means you have functioning genes and the guy in question also has good genes as well. (see youtube)
What really amazes me is human beings are about the only creatures on this planet capable of using reason to twist the mind and un-program their genes. On a side note , I’ always believe in a healthy mind requires a healthy body, you cannot have one without the other. Nonetheless a healthy girl is one with big butt and boobs haha =D , ‘beauty’ is for another separate discussion, or so it is said “is in the eye-of-the-beholder”

Chartered Financial Analyst

I’ve been deliberating whether take the CFA certification for sometime, it’s really painfully boring to plough through 5 volumes of financial french. Foremost I’m convincing myself I have to understand financial analysis despite knowing nuts about accounting except for calculating tax deductibles for the annual income tax assessments due. The following reasons why it is important to me.

  1. Damn bloody gahment that singaporeans voted for is pro-business(banks & esp MNCs with FDIs) rather being pro-singaporeans. Learning from the mini-bomb fiasco it’s caveat emptor for the rest of us.
  2. For my future family planning, I’m glad my dad did that for me and I will pay it forward for my children. ( It’s rather difficult now because I dont have a SO to start with)
  3. Possible alternative for a mid-career change into the finance related line (real-estate development )
  4. A additional skill which might be necessary  when I attain senior management levels in my career.

Why I’m not going to do this for,

  • Cause all kiasu singaporeans taking CFA as well
  • Certification Paper chase
  • Bragging rights to put on the name card
  • Being a Pro Bono tuition teacher for my sister

For the former reasons mentioned 1 & 2 I can get by just mugging a copy of the past exams and study guide. If I wanted to achieve 3 or 4 I will have to invest time and money for the exam certification. The deadline for the CFA registrations is around mid-feb,I’m stuck in a quandary and I detest asking for any holy divine intervention. Or I could use the money to do some badly procrastinated travelling instead.

Red-nano caught Red-handed

I’m be really stupid to believe this mistake? haha what do you think is the value of $50 and $100 in 6 nov 1958 when a bowl of noodles just cost only 5cents.Assuming if I’ve $100 back then, why would I want to enroll in local chinese communist schools knowing that I have the deep pockets to go cambridge and graduate as a top-class propagandist with honours in fabricating history . Red-nano is a product of Singapore Press Holdings.

Prayers

Boss , thanks for answering my prayers on her successful exchange application,

I pray for her safety and your protection over her. I know she wants her right of free speech,

may I have rights to sanctions as well but dont give her the rights to free bullets!

I pray too for wisdom in my decisions I make and the choices I take,

plus enlighten me on your intentions as well,it is not a piece-of-cake.

I dont understand why this video on this particular day and wake.

All this I pray in the names of the Father, the Son and the Holy spirit for God’s Sake!

My Two-Faced Girlfriend aka Hello Ani!

Yes Mr God I know you are speaking.. sometimes I think I’m crazy for reading into stuff too deep, Not sure what you are telling me thru this show , but I’ll note down the parallels for future reference.

“Gu-Chang doesn’t have job, money and he haven’t had any girl friends before. He is a total loser. One day his life is totally changed. At least that’s what he thought. He met this cute, naive and dreamy girl named Ani. She is perfect for him. Except the fact that she has multiple personality disorder. Ani has one more person within her, Hani. Hani is tough, violent and a scary girl. Gu-Chang doesn’t want to meet Hani but he only wants to see Ani. Where are you, Ani? “

  • Main character Gu-Chang is mucking and bumming in college choosing not to graduate
  • He meets this beautiful girl on a train sitting opposite each other , he was scared out of this pants by the her ghastly first impression
  • Hani , the dominant other side of ani , is tough and unwavering , though she still exudes a softer side by allowing Guchang to call out(awake up) ani.
  • Ani asks Gu Chang to be her lighthouse on the beach ( this portion of the script is totally irrelevant to the movie I suppose it alludes to the boss) requesting him to stand further and further towards the shoreline and then she disappears.
  • Hani is finally cured of her multiple personality disorder , but ani is lost in the process
  • GuChang stalks her the park where she frequently jogs
  • GuChang tries to run away when Hani caught him stalking her, both of them sit down and Guchang recall to her of their past dating years
  • Guchang tells Hani of the secrets Ani told him, like how when she misses her other half, birds will start chirping in her ears

If only I can get the supposed person to watch it with me, maybe the pieces of the jigsaw somehow might just fit together
Well everyone’s a skeptic , including myself , but still it’s a hilarious film to waste ur time on

Mr God ,why are you are giving me an impossible task  ….

Sometimes I just dont understand why you put all this thoughts and suggestions into my head. So many temptations , yet I still choose obedience over obstinance … really what do you want me to do? I need answers not open-ended questions

Dearest Qatar

Though summer’s heat is approaching it’s end.

Temper-atures are ever rising no end,

In this cruel dessert and all your sand.

When the bucket of shit goes up the fan.

Someone’s gonna really get canned

I’ still have to think of you till the end,

Despite getting myself into a tan.

Take Time

A good buddy of mine , gave me a postcard with some pretty good advice. Just like to share them on my blog.

Take Time

Take time to think …
It is the source of power.

Take time to be friendly …
It is the road to happiness.

Take time to play …
It is the secret of perpetual youth.

Take time to laugh …
It is the music of the soul.

Take time to read …
It is the fountain of wisdom.

Take time to give …
It is too short a day to be selfish.

Take time to pray …
It is the greatest power on earth.

Take time to work …
It is the price of success.

Take time to love and be loved …
It is God-given privilege.

Take time to do charity …
It is the key to heaven.

Quite a long list , however one point missing
Take time to reflect …
It is the only way to rediscover yourself.

My good buddy also tells me I’m empty, hahaha maybe I’ve lost my soul.
Life is pretty meaningless when you are on a office routine, the daily grind to working turning the economic wheel. Made worst when you have office politics to deal with. SK you are not alone.
